At interpack 2023 (Hall 18, Stand H10), Baumer hhs will be demonstrating that “Less is more” by showing how to conserve resources with intelligent packaging solutions. One example is a method for securing pallets in end-of-line packaging that is based on pressure-sensitive adhesive instead of shrink-wrap.
As a pioneer of electric cold glue and hot melt application heads for industrial gluing, Baumer hhs has been supplying its customers for decades with innovative solutions that help optimise production processes. At this year’s interpack (4 - 10 May, Düsseldorf / Germany), the company will be exhibiting its latest products for improving the sustainability of packaging applications at its stand in Hall 18 (H10) under the theme “Less is more – Saving resources with sustainable packaging solutions”. “With its broad range of electric heads for cold glue and hot melt application, combined with the associated quality assurance technologies, Baumer hhs has established itself as a unique supplier worldwide. Our equipment gives customers a number of innovative options for improving the eco-balance of their products and processes. At interpack, our main focus will be on two aspects: resource-efficient gluing in packaging production and reducing the use of plastic in industry logistics”, explains Martin Kotecki, Packaging Business Development Manager at Baumer hhs. “We invite customers and interested visitors to come and discuss with us how they can improve their eco-balances with our equipment.”
On the company website, personal appointments can be made to meet with the experts at its stand at interpack. Baumer hhs will be conducting live demonstrations in Düsseldorf of various gluing applications that conserve both energy and resources. Visitors can watch the XmeltBio in action as it applies bio-based adhesives, or see how the Xmelt applies lowtemperature hot melts at the company stand. “Rethink, renew, recycle. Rethinking adhesive application. That’s our philosophy at Baumer hhs, also for sustainable adhesives. In Düsseldorf, we want to demonstrate just how important bio-based adhesives have become.” Another focus at interpack 2023 will be intelligent solutions for securing pallets in end-of-line packaging using pressure-sensitive adhesive instead of shrink-wrap. These solutions reduce the consumption of plastic film, minimising waste in logistics. The adhesive is sprayed onto the transport boxes, reliably securing each successive layer on a pallet. This method also eliminates a step in receiving: the shrink-wrap no longer has to be removed during depalletising. Another segment Baumer hhs is showcasing at interpack 2023 is high-performance systems for applying pressure-sensitive adhesives in the production of e-commerce boxes. Developed specifically for this field of application, they offer high reliability and guarantee maximum application quality. What is more, they meet a very wide variety of demands, including exceptionally uniform gluing on heavy-duty corrugated board, paper-based lightweight packaging and mailers made of folding cartonboard or micro-flute, while minimising material consumption and transport volume. Another product Baumer will be introducing at interpack is the new, electric Delta application head, developed for box closing applications. Until now, pneumatic application heads commonly were used for this process step. “With the new Delta head, Baumer hhs has taken another pioneering step in the development of electric application solutions”, says Mr. Kotecki. Reducing energy consumption is another subject the company is addressing at its stand: The more customers can reduce adhesive and plastic film consumption with the innovative equipment from Baumer hhs, the less energy they use. The company’s equipment is very energy efficient to operate, meaning it also contributes to reducing energy consumption. The high performance and precision of its innovative gluing systems is another factor, because these high-end application heads can apply both defined dots and stitches of glue. In end-of-line applications for instance, these solutions from Baumer hhs can lower glue consumption by 50% or more. During interpack, the company will be offering tours of its headquarters in Krefeld on three different days, where visitors can experience other innovative gluing and quality assurance applications in packaging production and talk in greater detail with experts. Baumer hhs has reserved 5 May (Friday) and 8 May (Monday) in the morning, and 9 May (Tuesday) in the afternoon for the tours. The company will provide a shuttle service for transfers to and from the trade fair and its headquarters in Krefeld, which is only a few minutes away.
